So what?

Is something bothering you?

Try the “so what” exercise. Have a conversation with yourself and ask “so what” to the previous statement until you get to the bottom of why you’re annoyed.

You might find you’re not really annoyed at anything at all.

Example:

Sally didn’t text me back.
So what?
I feel disrespected.
So what?
I don’t like being disrespected.
So what?
What if everyone stops texting me back?
So what?
I will be lonely and bored.
So what?
I don’t want to be alone.
So what?
I have an irrational fear of being alone.
So what?
It’s irrational.
So what?
Well, nothing. I guess I’m good now.
So what?
OK. Time to get on with my life. 🙂
