One day, about 10 years ago, I went to the pool with my new girlfriend.
I wanted to impress her with my sweet diving skills, so I told her to “watch me” as I dove head first into the deep end – with my hands by my side.
Well, I misread the pool depth and slammed into the bottom, smashing my face and almost cracking my head open.
It gets worse…
My little brother was also there that day. And he caught the whole event with his GoPro video camera. (that’s me in the pic above)
As I went home to nurse my concussion, my brother uploaded his video to youtube with the title “dive fail”. The video went viral somehow, racking up 30,000+ views in the first day. And there were also thousands of ruthless comments from people saying how much of an idiot I am.
(Later my brother actually sold the 8 second video to failblog for ~$250!).
Anyway, instead of showing my girlfriend how cool I was, I showed the entire world how dumb I was.

The reason I share all these idiot stories with you, is to help you feel less embarrassed when you do dumb stuff in life.
The next time you fail miserably trying to impress people you like, be thankful it was only witnessed by a few people, not the whole internet.
