It pays to be nice…

Yesterday I went to a suit store to get measured for an upcoming wedding.

When I arrived at the store, it was really busy. There were 100 people waiting in line, asking for help, wanting to try suits on, etc. But there were only 2 employees working that day.

These poor employees were swamped… And the customers treated them so horribly! 😔 I watched people yell at them, roll their eyes and say nasty things under their breath. One lady was visibly tapping her feet, giving the tailors a death stare (like that ever speeds things up)

Anyway, when it my turn to be served, I figured I’d do the opposite of what other customers were doing. I decided to BE NICE.

I put on a smile, told a few jokes, thanked the tailor for working so hard, and even offered to get him some water or coffee. The look of relief on the tailor’s face was priceless. It’s like nobody had ever been nice to him before.

Just before leaving, the tailor picked out a really expensive belt and said he’d sell it to me for only $7. He wanted to do something nice for me because I was being so nice to him.

Today, keep these things in mind:

1. Negativity is contagious. Watch out when others are frustrated and try not to catch the negativity virus.

2. Kindness is contagious, too. Being nice to others makes them want to be nice to you in return.

Have a great day!

Beach volleyball last night in Santa Monica. My wife has a killer serve! And the sunset wasn’t too bad either 😉
